Visit from South Africa
South Africas Minister of Agriculture Ms. Lydia Johnson, together with the South African Ambassador in Denmark and a delegation of female farmers has just visited the island.
She had specifically asked to get the opportunity to experience and learn about Samsoe and its transition into renewable energy.

South Africa is hosting the COP17 to be held in November-December and the country wants to show the way forward. One of the ideas that were discussed during the visit was how the experiences from Samsoe could be used in the process of transforming the village of Kleinmond outside Cape Town into renewable energy.

The visit on the island was completed at Samsø Grønt, where Hans Joergen Bjur showed around among potatoes and advanced robots.

Rob Leteff looks at transition!
I believe a lot can be learned from a community such as Samsø and I am here to understand how the transition to renewable energy was made and what type of social environment allowed the community to make the transition.

It is hoped that my research findings will aid other communities in making a similar transition to renewable energy, while at the same time discovering if there are any issues that need to be addressed for future projects on Samsø.

The island of Samsoe and the Municipality of Skive cooperate to promote Danish environmental and climate knowledge. Both Samsoe and Skive are leading actors within the field of renewable energy development and have now together developed the Energy Safaris.

A coherent visiting programme focusing on good energy and environment stories told in a different way.  As a guest on a Safari you will get an insight into the achieved Danish experiences, and during the trip we will like to challenge your views and inspire you to new solutions through active participation.

Each Energy Safari will be tailor-made to fit the background, interests and requirements of the participants.
